Hina —Goddess of the moon, ruler of the tides of life and the waters, keeper of the fourth heaven, guidance is the gift, should you be humble enough.
"Hina" or "MaHina"— Goddess of the Moon Keeper of the fourth Heaven, ruler of the "Tides of Life," blood flows through women, ruler of the Tides of the water"s, both salt and fresh, rhythmic patterns, "Guidance" is the gift she bares.

...only arrogance prevents us from this "path"... Carved of kiawe-wood, (mesquite), this Ki'i doesn't require a specific title name as the image is both available in the female and male form. The symbolism here is simple yet effective, Hina- Goddess of the moon, ruler of the tides of life, (the blood flow of the female of all species, the tides of the waters, both salted and fresh waters, and the rhythmic patterns, provides "Guidance" in the ear on the spiritual side of this deity. The staff held in the left hand is that of the cobra, the serpent in any form represents that of the messenger. The feathers are to represent the effort of connection to the Heavens of flesh. This piece is currently on display in the lobby of the "King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel" on the Big Island of Hawaii.
